You do not need to be an influencer to get work from social media. A few good photos and quick replies in the right places are enough for most local trades.

Pick one or two places

Choose where your customers are, usually Facebook for local groups and Instagram for photos of work. Doing two well is better than five badly.

What to post

  • Before and after photos of finished jobs, with the client's permission.
  • A short note on what you did and where.
  • A tip or a common mistake you see.
  • Reviews, with the customer's agreement.

Keep it local

Name the area, join local community groups and follow their advertising rules. Be helpful in replies, not just promotional.

Reply quickly

Answer messages and comments promptly and politely. Many people message several tradespeople and pick the first helpful reply.

Protect your clients' privacy

Ask before you post photos of someone's home, and avoid showing house numbers, faces and personal items.

Make it easy to contact you

Put your trade, area and contact details in your profile, and a link to your booking or quote page.

Be consistent, not constant

One or two posts a week is plenty. Schedule a few after a good job, so you never have to think about it.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Posting only adverts.
  • Using photos without permission.
  • Ignoring messages.

Link it to your GlowUpp profile

Add your GlowUpp profile or private link to your social media bio so customers can see their own space redesigned and send you a request. A profile is free; your first 3 jobs through your own link are free, and after that GlowUpp charges 2% of the accepted quote (capped at £250).

Show clients the job before you quote

Free profile, your own link and QR code, and a redesign of the client's own space. You only pay when a job is won.

Yes. Ask first and keep personal details out of the pictures.
